hi guys - just had a new turbo fitted to my diesel 04 honda...ive had it serviced and coolants been changed..ive been told to take it on a long run on the motorway as it clears it of carbon that builds up in the engine ?...is that true ?...i mostly do short journeys around town, very rarlely do i travel on the motorway...what you guys think i should do ?..cheers

yep an itailian tune up is a necessary chore of owning a diesel and only doing short journeys,allways do this for at least 1/2 hr before taking it for your mot.

lol...."italian tune up"...how should it be driven on the motorway and how long ?...told to leave it in 3rd gear !....wtf, aint half gonna kill the juice...lol
 
Just take it to the rev limiter a few times, when pulling out of junctions, accelerate hard, foot to the floor type stuff.

Only a few times is needed.... And watch that black smoke pour out the back..!

If its only ever had 'recommended period' oil changes I would change your oil again and regularly at about 6000 miles, you probably won't ever need to change the turbo gain.
