Isn't it about time this was changed to something in English? OK OK some of our oldest laws are written in French, and fair enough it was chosen when English had only just replaced French as the official language in this country, but now that is not the case.

Do you think it should be changed? And what to?

Securespark is right we should just translate it into English.

I must admit that I do like the other French term that is in use - 'Honi soit qui mal y pense' it doesn't sound quite as good when translated into English 'shame upon him who thinks evil of it'

I think that's a misconception and that the original meaning is 'God and my duty.'

That was the motto of the grammar school I was at from '91 to '96.

The correct translation (or at least, so we were told), is "Evil be to him who evil thinks".
