If you get invited to a fancy dress party in the US, it means wear a tuxedo. In the UK it means wear a chicken suit.

More important for UK people to remember this, obviously.....

Go for it.....I am not easily shocked--oh, and as far as the chicken suit--I think it greatly depends where the party is held.

Just thought of some more...

Watch the same TV programme in the UK and the US, and it will take you about a third longer in the States as there are so many adverts.

We thought Janet Jackson popping out at the Superbowl wasn't the most outrageous thing to be on telly ever.

And I think about 90% of US citizens go to church on Sunday, and here its about 6%, but I may have made both of them up.

we know that there is a whole wold outside our borders, whereas the us seems to think it is the world and any parts outside its borders belong to it anyway! you also seem to rely far too much on technology to get a simple job done

I get all excited when I watch a US home improvement show, and they say that they will show you how to put a window in, and then they go do it with a circular saw....

all true so far.....but the percentages do vary from state to state (church for example) so far, I have noticed a huge difference in slang--like listening to a foreign language-not even slang really-adverts-here it's comercials and yes they are a pain. And yes, a big deal is made of some of the pettyest things on tv-all of which trips somebody's trigger some where--we can however pull our our handy little remote (technology) and change the station. also--via tv, you get to see how other folks get along--all the states, counties differ some times greatly--favorite diy show? Yankee Workshop-old fashion way of creating beauty out of raw wood--set I think in Pennsylvania Dutch country-Tennessee is a little on the old fashioned side of life (I think)

Yankee? Tennessee? Hmm. Confederate betrayals morelike. Now salute to the real flag colonial.

There seems to be a big difference in what we find humourous or the british sense of humour is sometimes lost on americans, for example sitcoms from over here tend to be rewritten and star american comedians when aired over there.
