Digging holes into Chalk

Hello,

I need to dig some holes for some posts into chalk, I'm not talking little bit of chalk, I mean solid chalk (Dover area.)

Any idea of the best way to do this? Will a petrol auger do the job?

I live up a lot of steps, so whatever I use can not be heavier than one to men can carry.

Please don't say by hand, it will make me cry.

we dig them by hand all the time (south downs) easier than you think. just use a decent trenching spade and its fine

big bottle of vinegar? dissolve the hole with it?

regular SDS drill with some ling bits and chain drill the holes?
