Digging up concrete floor to reduce height for parquet floor

Hi guys, I have an existing parquet floor which I would like to extend in to my hallway. The trouble is that the hallway floor (carpet on top of concrete) is already level with the parquet (the concrete is level with it - carpet on top) and I don't really want different levels when I lay the parquet on top. Is it expensive to reduce the height and what would I need to do to reduce the height?

My guess is it is definitely expensive and a lot of hassle. Between hallway and other rooms it is very normal to have a 'threshold' - why not install one there and save time, money, hassle and problem?

you are probably right. It would be a lot of money.
Can I stick mahogany parquet tiles (9"x3" x 3/4") directly on to the concrete floor?

As long as your concrete floor is level, sound and dry. what adhesive do you plan to use?

I don;t know what adhesive I'm going to use. If you have any suggestions I would appreciate it. The blocks are reclaimed and so have the dreaded bitumen on the back. If I can avoid having to scrape this off then great - is there an adhesive that copes with that?

The more bitumen is left, the longer it will take for any modern adhesive to bond.
Mapei P990 would be a good option
