With wireless is that it's not just the quality of the gear but all the other stuff that gets in the way: building construction, distance, competing wireless devices etc etc.

One person could buy a cheapie device from a supermarket that works great for them. The exact same device might not work for you. Same bit of kit, different conditions.

The Argos kit runs on 2.4MHz. This is the same frequency range as wireless PC networks, DECT cordless hones, Bluetooth devices, baby monitors, wireless door bells & CCTV cams, and even your microwave chucks out interference on that band. That's a lot of competition for the same frequency space.

If he's a good mate why not ask if you can borrow his kit for a night to test at your house. It's the only safe way to tell if it will work for you.

First choice is to always run a bit of cable. Only go for wireless if you absolutely can't.

hi chris i will try and borrow the set off my m8,that sounds like a good idea. i noticed in the argos catalogue that some sets are 5.8Ghz, i presume they suffer less from the interference problems that you highlighted?
cheers terry

5.8GHz should be much cleaner than 2.4, although there are differences in penetration. It's really a case of try it and see.
