dimmer pull switch

Hi

i have just fitted a pull switch dimmer in the bathroom and all is cool, the curcuit also has an extractor and the dimmer has just over heated, shall i asume that the dimmer cannot be used with the fan or is it a faulty dimmer?

Yup, you cannot use a dimmer switch to control a fan, or flourescent lighting!!

you do get pull switch dimmers with a separate switched output suitable for the fan.
