Have a 2 gang dimmer switch,one side does the lounge,the other does a landing light (2 way) been fine for years,last night turned on the lounge light,bulb blew and tripped rcd,removed the bulb reset rcd and the lounge light wouldnt work,tested the switch to find landing light worked but no output on switched live for the lounge,today i fitted a new 2 way dimmer switch and all was working ok,just turned on the landing light and the switch made a buzing noise,this time the landing light one has stopped working but the lounge light is fine!Its a 240w switch with 3x40w bulb in downstairs light and one 40w bulb on landing light.
Any clues why these 2 switches have burned out or is it time to get an electrician in??
