I bought one of these switches to replace a single switch that controlled 2 lights - there are no other switches in the loop.

Fitted them and it all appears to work, and the light goes on/off as expected. What isn't right is that when I tap the 'dim down' button, it dims all the way off and won't 'step'. The same happens if I dim up from off - it goes all the way and doesn't stop.

Am I missing something, or is this a faulty switch?

Dont you have to keep your finger on the button until you get to the brightness level u want and then let go?

What does the manual say? What's the make & model?

The model is this one.

It made no difference if I pressed the up/down button briefly, or held onto it! It just didn't 'step' but went all the way (all on or all off)/

Sorry, I'm not familar with that type of dimmer.
What sort of lamp are you trying to dim, is it a low energy type?

Other folk have had problems with these. See //www.diynot.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=66774&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0[/QUOTE]

Standard 60 Watt bulb.

I think that the other issues relate to people who have multiple switches controlling the same light and the need for euro style latch switches. I only have one switch, and it is that one that seems problematic.
