Check the black grid in the bowl (below the sieve) isn't blocked.
6 flashes is a water intake problem.
Check the fill hose isn't kinked.
Failing the above, remove the left hand panel, unplug the flowmeter, plug it back in and try the machine again.
You can't change pogrammes when an error is flashing. Press and hold the start button until the light goes out. You can then change programmes.
