Hi Everyone,

I have a problem I was hoping someone could give me some advice on.

When I bought my flat two years ago, I took away a piece of carpet that had been wrapped around the waste pipe, that connected through what I think is a PVC pipe to the toilet. I found that the pipe underneath was, what looked like was cast iron, quite rusty at the edges and very discoloured. As it was not leaking and as the sight of it terrified me, I promptly did the sensible and grown up thing and covered it back up with the carpet.

However, I am now painting my bathroom and am going to have to deal with it, and as I hope to sell my flat so don’t really want to have to replace any pipes. Especially as there’s no sign of it leaking, It’s just very ugly.

So I was wondering if someone could recommend something I could paint it with that would not only make it look better, but also help prolong its life?

Cheers!
