Hi,

I'm thinking of getting a dishwasher installed in the space that a kitchen cupboard sits at the moment (underneath the draining board and next to the cupboard with water/drain). The space is H 683mm x W 568mm x D 500mm but all I seem to find are dishwashers that are either 600mm wide or 450mm but hey ho...just wanted to know if anyone's done the same and if there's any lessons learned from it they could pass on? Is it better to get integrated or remove the bottom shelf/kickboard and get a stand-alone one etc...

My wife wanted a dishwasher in my mother's house if we were going to live there to look after her. Counter top space limited, and under the counter not really an option as counter lowered for mother as she was an amputee. We got a counter top dishwasher and fitted it under the counter, it worked fine, but clearly used more dishwasher tablets.

On her death we moved houses, our new house has a flat under the main house and the same unit,

which looks like the one shown, has sat on the counter since moving in, water feed plumbed in, waste simply into the sink, not used a lot, mainly BBQ's, but it has been fine in both locations over the last 10 years.

OK, front kitchen we have a full sized dishwasher, one shown only used in back kitchen, but it works fine.

You are not going to get an integrated DW under a 500 worktop and free standing unit will stick out .

So it is 20" deep, 22" across, and 17" high. It does not stick out, the downside is one disk washing tablet used for both large and small dishwashers, but it was fitted under the counter at late mother's house. And in the flat as shown, under the counter has the inverter and battery for the solar panels, so no room to fit the dishwasher.
