Hi, I'm after a bit of advice before installing a new dishwasher.

- Is this the Y piece I need for the waste water? https://www.screwfix.com/p/washing-machine-y-piece/81000
Lots of people are saying it leaks. Is there an alternative?

- Do you use any sort of solvent cement or something for making the brass or plastic connections water tight?

- These clips for keeping the pipe work out of the way? https://www.screwfix.com/p/floplast-push-fit-pipe-clips-white-40mm-10-pack/18926

This is the current setup without any dishwasher

The ' Y' piece is for connecting two water supply hoses to one isolator valve ,and are available in brass ,which are more robust than the plastic version.
The waste pipe from the appliance can go into your waste pipework, but you need to amend the existing set up ,to include a second spigot.

Ah, thanks. Please can you point me to this second spigot? Would it be a tee / Y or another pipe coming out? I can't find the bit. Thanks

The spigot is the bit that sticks out from the waste pipework ,and your Flexi hose is connected to it at present. Your pipework / waste trap combo needs to be ammended to include a second one. Will have a look for an example for you.

Have a look for mcalpine ssk2
" Space saving P trap".
Screwfix code 66149.
This would replace what you currently have under your sinks.

Thanks Terry, Isn't there a way to just replace this bit with a Y / tee piece? Otherwise I'll go for the one you mentioned.

I don't think there is , at least I don't ever remember seeing one. One of the other contributors on the site may have.
You can get a drain out kit , basically cuts into your rigid plastic waste pipe to provide an extra spigot . Screwfix code 75883

It's adjustable ,some sections get cut to length to suit the installation.

It may fit ,but I doubt there is enough space. The section of pipe that the red arrow points to would have to be cut ,so the nut above it can be lowered down ,to touch the nut below it. Then your new part is inserted.

I meant: to replace the part that the arrow is pointing to. They look like the same size no?

No. The nut currently screwed to the sink waste ,screws to the thread on the bottom of new fitting. And the nut on the top of the new fitting screws to the sink waste.
