Hi all

Our (old) Bosch dishwasher tripped the consumer unit the other day whilst we were out.

When we turn it back on, it instantly decides to turn on the drain-out water pump. The pump runs even if the door is open.

It is a bosch svg4313

Any suggestions? It is fairly old but other than the current fault it seems to be in good condition and has served us well.

Many thanks

Is the sump greasy?, heavy deposits trigger the pump as if there was water in there, [clean with boiling soapy water and a tooth brush.]

It looks clean, I will double check, but would it cause the pump to run even when the door is open?

Sounds like you have some Water leaking into the Sump, which is activating the Anti-Flood Switch, may also be why it tripped the CU.....?

Hi,

I have taken the sides off. The water chamber seems to have a little float at the top end, it was clogged. I cleaned it and the float is free to move.

The base of the machine is dry, the anti-flood switch is not being pushed up. The water level housing assembly is empty, so the float there is not activated either, the diaphragm is not activated either.

Just behind the water chamber, there seems to be a clear "drum" which looks like it is full of granulated orange crystals, it looks like it might be a build up of oil/fat. I have no idea what the drum is.

I did fill up the machine with a bucket of water, it pumps out ok but the pump still continues to run.

I have noticed that one of the three prongs on the antiflood switch is blackened at the end where it enters the switch. Any suggestions as to how I test the switch. It seems to be wired to the water level switch.

Thanks
