I've posted this up in the 'plumbing' section also as it crosses over into both subjects.

We have two tiny shower rooms just off my kitchen (don't ask!) and we want to get rid of one of them to make the other shower room bigger and turn it into a utility room with washing machine etc.

The one we want to remove is in a boxed in partition which is tiled with an electric shower and a shower door.

My partner is good at sorting things out and I'm sure we'll be able to tear out the partition no problem (it's not particularly substantial!), it's just the electrics and plumbing that I'm concerned about.

My question is how do we begin and in what order should we remove things?

Should we start by removing the tiles?

The first place to start on the electrics side of things is to see how its fed from the fuse box (ie a wireable fuse, MCB, RCD etc). Does the other shower room have an electric shower too? I would pull the MCB for that particular circuit, then from there the pull switch can be taken out (after checking the circuit is definately dead) then disconnecting the shower cable in the shower. As for the incoming water supply, this would normally be mains pressure so trace this back to the incoming supply and delete pipe work. From there you can remove the shower and knock the walls down!

Hi Tom,

Yes, the other shower room also has an electric shower and they both have seperate switches on the consumer unit.

From there you can remove the shower and knock the walls down!

Now that's the bit I'm really looking forward to

Cheers for the tips!
