Well with 15 years experience in this trade i have to suggest that You never repoint lead with cement of any type.Simply replace the lead making sure You have a good inch or more into the chase and then fix ledge wedges that are one inch wide every 15\\\" or less then get a good quality lead mastic and this will never cause problems.
Lead will always expand due to heat from the sun.Ensure that the flashings never exceed 1.5m lengths as this length is the maximum permitted to prevent lead \\\"creep\\\"
Mortar does not have the flexibility required to prevent itself from cracking after a period of time.Mastic every time fellas and don't go to a Band Q style place use a roofing suppliers like Asphaltics or similar when lead is fixed properly it should last for 100 years. As You will see in all old buildings. However flashings are the weakest link so need careful considerations when being fixedConsult the Lead Sheet Associations website for a downloadable pdf covering all this Thank You
