The pavement outside my house is tarmac. Crappy old tarmac that is a patchwork quilt. When I did my extension a 40 tonne concrete wagon really sunk it as it pulled onto the drive. Basically where the wheels went it rutted the Pavement threshold with my boundary almost 4” deep.
Now I’m doing my drive, I want to lay a nice straight line of blocks on my threshold. I’ll set them properly in concrete along with the required ACO drain but this leaves the problem 4” drop where the rut is on the pavement. This is going to be no good when our cars have to bump up this every day. Can see my edging strip taking a battering and failing.
Should I just purchase some of that cold lay tarmac stuff and build up the pavement level or should I call the council to fix? I know it’s their pavement but I certainly don’t want to admit it’s my fault it’s knackered! What’s the cold lay stuff like? DIY nonsense or good gear? I’d rather the council do it properly for free!
