Hi - does anyone here have experience of this, and guidance on finding reliable suppliers for a DIY fit?

My investigations suggest that fitting solar film to interior pane can cause damage due to thermal stresses, as - among other things - the film absorbs some of the solar load rather than reflecting it. So I prefer an external fit, especially with my 1980s-vintage double glazing, which it seems to me could be susceptible. Is this the correct thinking?

The external films are slightly more expensive from what I have seen. Is this expected? And is this is due to the more robust specifications for an outdoor product?

Also - I have contacted a couple of suppliers. One wants to charge about £80 for a 2 metre length (5 feet wide). Does this sound right?

The other supplier is significantly cheaper but does not want to disclose the original manufacturer. Is this common practice in the trade? It sounds a bit unusual to my wary ear.

I have searched the forums here on this, and it seems worthwhile restarting this topic.

I would be interested in any experience or opinions.......
