I'm new to DIY and not that great at it but mainly as I've never really got stuck in. Having bought my first house 2 years ago, and now a bit more on my feet financially, I'm going to refurb the downstairs toilet.

This is handy, as even if it takes months it doesn't matter as it's spare, and it needs sorting anyway. Any mistakes shouldn't (famous last words) be major, so I can kind of use it to learn from.

As you can see, it's very small and not really functional - sink doesn't work and toilet is pretty horrible looking.

THE PLAN

- Remove the basin - fairly happy I can do that
- Remove radiator - likewise
- Remove toilet - this is difficult as it's a cast iron waste pipe so will need a professional to come in.
- sand down all the walls and paint.

Things I'm not sure about

1) Is it worth removing skirting and re-installing?
2) Maybe I should box all those pipes in?
3) The wall above the basin is a bit uneven - maybe I should put plaster board up in there to get perfect walls? Could even then tile half the room to make it look a bit nicer?

Thanks,
Redrabbit

be interested to see an actual floor plan of that room with dimensions. there might be a way to be clever with the space.
