This was installed on an external wall fed from a fused spur inside the house no RCD protection installed. Apprently the owners late husband did the work himself and its worked find for 30 years !

While water does have some conductivity it's far from a good conductor and the spacings between live parts in a typical extension socket are pretty big.
The reason we get so worried about water and electricity is the hazard it poses to humans not the water stopping the electrics from working.
