Hi everyone.

The house refurbishment and extension is now finally finished after 3 years. The final job is to top the driveway and paths down the side if the house.

We are going for resin bound gravel and already have the sub base laid in prep for this.

As 1 last job to do I am considering doing this myself. Having seen lots of them done I am fairly confident in the process and can order the materials directly and hire a mixer in.

My big concern is can I do it by myself ( I normally see 2 or 3 people as a gang which obviously speeds up the process but is it necessary.)

The job in full is approximately 120m2 but split into 2 60m2 areas via a drainage channel running the full width of the drive.

Can 1 person mix and lay 60m2 in a day. I may be able to persuade some helpers but dont want to count on it.

What do you think if you ha e experience in this.

You'll want three people - a mixer, carrier and a spreader, the carrier and spreader can be one or help each other depending on the area. There's a lot of cleaning to do between each mix, and each mix has about 10-15 minutes to be used and levelled.

It's non-stop and it will be a long day for 60m2 with two people, It's not a solo job.

And no rain, not even a few spots for the following 12-24 hours.

It's not a traditional cement mixer either. Get the big floats and lots of white spirit. Overalls, gloves and tape up anything you don't want resin stuck to.

There was a hire mixer brought back to Jewsons yesterday that had been used for a resin drive and the drum was wrecked.

Ok that answers it then. Don't want to ruin the last bit of work.
