is it at all possible to wire up a room thermostat to an external power supply (a plug) to control a stand alone room heater. i know you can buy plug in thermostats that do the job but i need min to be duel temp day/night and they are very expensive and hard to come buy. all help would be very great full..brian

I suspect that the load you are trying to run through the stat will be too high - a room stat is only designed to switch a small current
Try searching for stats to control electric underfloor heating.
