For those of us who can read . . . I have just finished the formula 1 designer Adrian Newey's autobiography "How to build a car" & it's probably the bestest book I've read in ages.

I'm not really into F1 but it is still a fascinating insight into that world, even for someone with zero interest or even contempt.

For those of us who can't read it does have a few pictures of the pencil sketches he designs these ultra high tech cars with. It's nice to find that there's someone else out there who also takes that approach . . . .

Funny you should say I was handed this down from my eldest as a must read. Still sitting on the pile but I think I'll rearrange as it does sound right up my alley thanks for sharing.

I've not read anything in ages, never seem to find the time. But my son bought some books from school yesterday that look interesting!
One is Dara Obriain's Beyond the Sky: You and the Universe, and the other I have forgotten, but one of those books that I feel I should have read.

It really is a good read & if you anything like a proper chap then you'll see a little bit of yourself in his character.

Ive tinkered in a bit of racing but nothing on his level and enjoy F1 at times so yes most interested.

I have just re read Cider With Roadies by Stuart Maconie, basically a biography of his early years in Wigan and then to his breakthrough into music journalism, good fun, although he writes about what disturbing character Jimmy Savile is years before the revelations

Last book i read was Good Omens, which i wanted to read before watching the tv series. Was odd, as i couldn't remember any of it, but had the book since it came out!

The book my son bought yesterday is The Secret Garden. I never read much as a kid, only got into reading as a teenager, mostly thanks to Terry Pratchett.

I read the LoTR many many years before the film trilogy, I honestly feel a robbed by it's modern popularity. It's mine all mine.... precious!

LoTR saved me! My first year living away from home I had my house (shared) burgled. Everything electrical was stolen, even the old toaster and kettle. All my CDs and tapes too, even the copied tapes. The only thing they did not steal was books, and a housemate was mad about fantasy and lent me his LoTR book (very fancy hardback). Loved it. Took ages to read it. This was Spring / Summer 1993. I then read them again before the films came out. The only large book I've read twice. Tempted to read it again, would like to, before I die!

It was so weird. I just could not remember it at all, but yet, remember conversations with friends in a pub about how it was the best of his books.

Yes...he was dragged up...via Repton school...£34k a year fees......Helps a tad in life

I always have half a dozen books on the go..Prefer auto biographies,science,aircraft,cycling adventure, medical history,true crime,etc.Only fiction I like is Jeffrey Archer...superb story teller.Read most of Richard Dawkins stuff.
