I have s steep drive with a flattish manhole cover as you approach the front door.

Dirt and water is getting trapped in the edge of it and causing a large puddle when it rains.

I was wondering if theres some way of drilling small holes in the edge of the manhole cover, or do I need a small drain next to it, looks like there used to be.

Depending on whats down there, (can't make out the writing on the lid), have you considered trying to raise it level with the surrounding surface?

It’s a Briarcrete.

if you lift the lid and clean the silty stuff away, water should be able to get into the manhole.
