Do I need n CIS card?

Just started out as a DI & registering my business with the Inland Revenue. Do I need to get a CIS card ?

Prior to April this year, If you were doing work for private customers only then you didn't need one.

If you were working for a contractor then you would have needed one, but as far as I am aware the system changed in April, so now you don't need one anyway.

But, as you are just starting out, then best thing to do is ask the nice people at the tax office while you are there.

CIS cards are no more.

Intead your trade customer (not domestic) is expected to check with HMRC on your status and pay you accordingly.

Sometimes they don't bother!
