Just need some clarification please chaps.

doing a litlle 'charity' work next thursday Morning

Collecting and delivering a cooker, I have been asked as I offered some voluntary time.

Any way crux of it is, I am connecting the cooker to the supply, to cover my arse should I test the circuit first, cont, IR, EFLI even if a PIR cert maybe available.

It is social housing, change of occupant, so there should be a PIR cert

Do as you would do for any other job.

IR test the cooker itself, if it's been in storage it may well be damp.

You need to also check the circuit you're attaching the cooker to is healthy, so yes, an IR test on the circuit & a loop at the cooker terminals after attaching the appliance would be good.

Also, test the RCD if attached to that circuit & PEB's.

Cheers Securespark, very helpful, I'm keen to do this right for them as it may well lead to some good bread and butter work which will be helpful in the current climate.

apparently all the appliances are serviced and tested before release, but will IR it anyway.

The one I do work for always request one on change of tenancy

If I were you I'd issue a MWC if you've done the tests may as well issue documentation to them.

A PIR is a report on an existing installation, not an installation certificate!

As noted, above, its a Minor Works Certificate you need.

Yes I understand I should be leaving a MWC, for my work, but as the house has a change of occupant, (the person I am connecting up for is a new tenant) then surely there should be a PIR.

I know this is not a certificate, but it should detail the integrity or worthiness of the circuit to which the cooker is to be attached, should it not?

Either way, I will have to verify the circuit is fit for purpose and leave MWC, so that will be my arse covered.

Oharaf your talk of promotional activity has got me thinking.
I wonder how many of the pro sparks who post on here get work from other posters.
If I didn't do it myself, there are several regular posters on here I wouldn't hesitate to employ having seen posted examples of their work and having got a "feel" for them, if you know what I mean
If they are picking up work from this site, good luck to them - they deserve some reciprocation for the time they spend answering questions on here, especially in this economic climate.
It's a shame admin won't allow email contacts in signatures etc, as the DIY Network is like wading through treacle.

There is no regulation that says that a PIR must be done on change of tenant. There is GUIDANCE from IEE/IET in Guidance Note 3 but that is all.
