Do these walls need replastering/reskimming?

Hi,

I've just had my boiler upgraded and the old cylinder removed from the airing cupboard. I want to repurpose the airing cupboard into a linen cupboard/storage. However, the walls look water stained from the boiler being in there for many years. So question, do the walls need reskimming/replastering or are they okay to be painted over with stain blocking primer of some kind?

If it is completly dry now then I would just paint it.

You won't see it once you've put shelves in and your wife has stuffed it full of towels, bed linen, and clothes.

Best to remove the stained panel of plaster or plasterboard so that there's no chance of bleeding thro in the future - then replace with a piece of plasterboard.
