We want to remove carpet in the hall and refit with laminate floor. The fitters will only deal with fitting the laminate floor and put in the beading strips - However we don't want beading strips! So we said we would remove the skirting ourselves, and refit the skirting ourselves after the laminate has been installed. But what do we do around the door frames? Are you supposed to undercut them and slide the laminate underneath? What happens if you don't?

Take skirtings off, undercut door frames, otherwise the frames will look a mess, with quadrant pinned to it. To undercut, use a multi-tool, with a piece of laminate and what ever you plan to put under it, as a guide to cutting height. Both skirting and door frames, need to be loose enough sat on laminate, to allow is some movement.
