dodgy hinges

On most of my UPVC windows, they don't close properly.

I've just been examining the kitchen window. All the windows are top hinged (an old house with tall windows).

When I push the kitchen window closed from the outside, there is a gap at the top at one side (and the other side appears "loose" when almost closed).

If I then tap the top side where the gap is, it will "click" shut firmly.

What appears to be the problem is that on the opener is a little "notch" that sticks into a little "socket" on the top of the frame (I assume this is an anti-crowbar function), and it is missing the "socket" as it closes. When I tap it, it then clicks into the socket and pulls it firm.

Any ideas how I can fix this? Do I need new hinges? I can upload pictures and a video if nessecary!

New hinges required

Search for friction hinges, measure the length of yours and also the stack height, usually 13mm but some hinges were 17mm

Try greasing those corners first 5 times out of 10 that will sort it. If that fails definatley new hinges required
