We had a wet patch of plaster. The wall wasn't wet behind so looked under the floorboards and found this. Does anyone know what the white growth is? Is it harmful and what should we do about it? Is it likely to be connected to the random wet patch?
Photos not great but it looks like dry rot. Yes it could be harmful - to your building - so you need to get it checked out. Some photos showing the overall context would be helpful.
As Jed has said, it looks very much like Dry Rot. If it is, you have a serious problem. Get it looked at asap, as the spores can grow like wild fire.
Regards oldun.
is that just a piece of rubbish in the 1st photo?
are we meant to be looking at the so called white growth on the bricks?
if so looks like efflorescent to me upgrade subfloor ventilation, but as said better photos are needed.
