I found a mound in my garden and dug over the top and this concrete thing was underneath. Before I dig any further I wondered if anyone knew what it was?

Thanks

Could it be an old septic tank?

You probably need to dig down one side to see what it exposes

I don't know the scale. What size is the thing you are looking at? What is the size of the corrugations?

If you stand back and show its surroundings it may help.

How old is the house?

In your last pictucture is that a piece of pipe or concrete path edging? I thought the same as Notch 7 that it might be a septic tank cover. Are you on mains sewers? I think you need to dig down the side of it and expose more of the concrete and possibly incoming or outgoing pipe work.

It looks someone has practised their concrete skills using the side of an andersen shelter as a mould. Or the latest banksy.

How far from the house is it and where in the garden does it lie?
Dig down around it and see how far down i goes: i agree, it could be an in-filled tank of some sort but why the bumps?

The wheel barrow gives a pretty good idea of the scale - IMG_9031

Could it be that the bumps are simply from a 'thing above' being bedded in to a wet concrete foundation?

The concrete mass appears to be on a raised embankment - do you know what this was for?
Have you explored any old ordnance survey maps for clues...

There used to be 1950 RAF aerial photographs online which was interesting looking at my housing estate when it was a farm.
I don't know where to view this information now but plenty of information online about it.

Very interesting they were. I have a local photo, taken when the house I live in, was in the process of being built. Just the walls up, and no roof.
