I am trying to understand how dormers are made and have sketched this to pass on to the carpenters, does it look OK? I know they may have their own way of doing things.

I am not sure how the front will be made, with frames for the windows, there is a steel column right in the middle, maybe it complicates things?

How are vertical timber posts secured over incline or level timber joist or board? A few diagonal nails? Should the bottom timber plate be made thicker to allow a nail to sink in deeper?

Sorry for all the noob questions.

You should always drop dormers onto a triple rafter, because the first two get swallowed up by the dormer thickness, meaning you'll have nowt to fix the roof battens to.
