I'm going to replace my front door ..... Its behind a glazed porch south facing so it gets plenty of sun.

Ideally I want some kind of finish that won't look god awful after a few month of cooking in the sun

I'm ideally wanting hardwood ..... But have no idea what to finish it with ..... The existing one has varnish ...... But its nasty looking & bleached to death

I really don't want a plastic door .....

Any Suggestions ?

Impra or Sikkens is what I've used.

Impra:
http://www.agwoodcare.co.uk/list_products.php?category=Exterior Stains and Dyes
or
http://www.nwepaints.co.uk/acatalog/ExternalWood.html

You need Color (for base coat) & Elan for top coats - or water based alternatives. Impra changed some of their colours a few yrs back - the square tins can be different colours to the round tins but with the same name - mahogany in particular changed.

You can buy Sikkens all over the place.

Dark colours last longer than light colours - but you can/should add a top coat every 3 yrs (if outside) any way.
