Hello. I am staying at my brothers while he is on holidays and I got him new door handles for this door (they are done)! because I thought it would fix the problem. Basically the door closes but you need to really pull it to open. As you can see when turning the handle the little bit (latch)? doesn’t go back the whole way and is preventing the door from opening properly when closed. Would a new latch fix this? Sorry for my stupidity!

The handle is rotating 90 degrees to pull across the latch.
The handle should only need to rotate 45 degrees.
Try a new tubular latch - measure the backset first.

You probably didn't install the. new door handle properly.
That’s the original handle in the video. The new handle was definitely fitted correctly. I’ll get a new latch. I took the old latch off and the mechanism appears to be lose.

Some latches have the option to inset the spindle at 45 deg. Can you turn the latch and insert the spindle to take up the play in the latch ?
