Recently had a door and case fitted. Tiler removed door to avoid any possible damage and since re-hanging door have found it won't close. Looks to be about 2 - 3mm out. Now, question is I've tried to ease the door case by tightening up the exisiting screws without any joy, have taken some of the wedges out to free it a little again without any luck. Is there any mileage by increasing the depth of the hinge cut into the case?

Yes you can chop the hinges in deeper and that may with luck solve your problem. Is it possible that the lining has swollen a little what with it being adjacent to the tiling ,a wet trade?
Either way if the lining or door shrinks back you can then pack the hinges out a bit if required, something you can't do if you plane anything off the door.

If you do decide to sink the hinges a little bit deeper,, take care not to overdo it, otherwise the door may bind at the hinge side, creating more problems. ;) ;)

Yes I should have said that John, but sometimes what is blindingly obvious to onesself is overlooked in answers when it's not obvious to the person asking the question

Where were the wedges you mentioned, behind hinges? is so they may have gone back the wrong side of the screws. Put back close to the hinge pin they will throw the door across making it bind, placed away from the hinge pin at the edge of the hinge they will pull the door away from the frame.

Cut hinges back by about 3mm into door casing and problem solved. Thanks to all for your solutions.
