Door handle connecting rod measurement

I'm in Germany at the moment and we just saw a nice interior door handle set in a local DIY store. My only worry is whether the size of the square section connecting rod is the same here as in the UK.

Is anyone in a position to measure one of these rods on a UK door, and let me know the size, so we can decide whether to go back and get a set? The ones here are around 8mm square.

For some weird reason they're 3/10ths of an inch (7.66mm).
