Door handles/catches in new internal door.

Hi All.
Newbie here with a few questions.
Have just ordered a new internal door to replace the old one. First question , how do I fit the new catches and how easy is it to do, and, the door is clear pine but I want to paint it, so what preparations do I need to do in terms of priming and undercoating etc.
