This may sound daft but worth a try....

We have a normal doorbell (doorbell push button outside with bellwire through wall to battery run door chime unit inside.)

We can't really change this without a lot of disruption.

Ideally we want to keep the chimes where they are as we can hear them in the hallway and general house, but as we often don't hear them in our workroom as its 3 rooms away at the end of the house extension, we need to relay them somehow.

Is there such a thing as a extension we can add to the chime unit inside, so we can hear (or relay) the chimes into our work room at the other end of the house?

We have tried wireless ones with not much success and dont want to add another bell push to the front door , so think some kind of chime extension might work better fixed to the existing bell some how. Does anything like this exist?

any suggestions appreciated

You can wire an extra chime in parallel with the existing.

If the run is a good distance it might sound weak as most of the voltage takes the parth of least resistance, ie to the nearest bell. if this happens, the simple way to get round it is to add a simular length of cable to the existing bell, coiled up somewhere so both bells are on "equal length" cables. Very long runs may involve using a relay.
