The cavity on my dormas empty, so I decided to add insulation over the top. I've however had a change of heart and wish to also fill the cavity as well as insulate on the outer layer of the cavity and re clad.

What can I use to inject into the cavity? I had thought of expandable foam but surely there are easier diy solutions?

Thanks
Owen

There is loose cavity insulation, would depend on construction as to how easy it would be to retro fit.

It would need to be blown in through 20mm holes. Do you have a link and if possible the name of a system that can be used to blow them in?

Blown insulation is AFAIK not really a DIY job.

Shame about the tiles. Is it a bathroom?

For a better job, you could either fit an insulating backer board and tile over that, or do a more thorough job by stripping off the tiles and plasterboard, insulating between the studwork, then boarding (preferably with a tiling board rather than plasterboard) and retiling.

The tiles are new, I've only just discovered the cavities are empty. Why is it not possible to use blown insulation?

It's not impossible, but it's a job normally done by specialist contractors. Where would you get the machines and materials, and what's it worth for just a dormer?

Hi John,

It's a rather large dorma and to be honest I'd like to give it a go myself if possible.

Thanks again
Owen
