Hi,
We have victorian terrace house and the 2nd floor has a bedroom with dorma window and is the original timber framed matching the lower sash windows. We are looking at turning the top floor bedroom into our master bedroom and are thinking about having the dorma window replaced still in wood and still to match the sash windows but just renwed as its looking a bit tired and have double glazing put in it. What i was thinking was having the dorma window doubled in size to alow more space and more light in the room. Will this require planning and also how big a job is it, i am not looking at doing it myself but just curious on how big a job and what price to expect.

If, by making the window wider thus making the ridge line higher (applicable to a pitch roof only) then planning may want to stick their noses in.

Otherwise it is just a case of satisfying building reg's.

Size of the job will depend upon roof layout. Price of the job will probably be rather expensive p/m2 as logistics are against you, i.e. scaffold etc.
