bit confused with all the information I've seen on this - could I get some guidance please?
Got a dormer and the cheeks (I believe is the term for the void between the lower part of the outer wall and the sloping original roof?) are not insulated on some parts and not done enough in others (dormer was done in two parts over the years).
Would like to block the gap between the joists so that air doesn't get between the first-floors floor and downstairs ceiling- not clear on advice here - I know I should do it but can I block them off completely or do I need to leave *some* circulation?
As for the dormer sides - can I just check that any insulation I do has to leave the studs free to the cold air - but can I put insulation right up to their sides or do I have to leave a gap their too?
Ideally I'd like a solution that allows me to cover the studs as it may make it a heck of a lot easier for me to do in this very tiny space (I'm 6' 4" - not happy that I have to do this
thankyou !
John.
