i know this question maybe how much is a piece of string but anyway. ive currently got a 2500 mm dormer and have planning permission to fill in 1 metre of one end and extend 3000m the other end and take it out another 300mm towards the roof edge, making a new dormer window face 4500mm by 1400mm and flat roof of 1900mm. questions should i need steel or timber?
does anyone have a rough idea how much it would cost? scafolding 3rd floor, building dormer and window itself?
understand if not possible but have been quoted 6k if wood construction and couple grand more if steel and seems a bit steep?

Steel or timber will mainly depend on existing structure and window size. If you want the 4.5m window completely open then timber option probably isnt feasible. What is the current dormer constructed from and does you quote keep this dormer and extend onto it?

Get an engineer to design the structure then get it requoted.
