Is it ok to lay your plasterboard direct off the floor? It will sit on 18mm plywood that's sitting on floor boards.
My floor to ceiling height it bigger than the 2400 height of board only by about 60mm .
I'm i best putting them on battern or doing them off floor and just adding a bit at the top?
Thanks

if you are fitting skirting boards it will cover the gap at floor level, the 60mm at bottom not top. always better to leave a SMALL gap between floor and wall for expansion/ movement anyway

So would you suggest 25mm battern? i take it 12.5mm is about the right gap for the adhesive ? So I can just leave the battern on and fix the skirting board to that? Thanks

depends how thick the adhesive is compressed to,going onto bare brick or block ?? you could end up with the batten proud of the board, but if its held on with screws you can take it off after adhesives set anyway.

When you put your boards up as there will be a gap at the bottom of less than 3 inches cut some wooden off cuts the size of the gap and make yourself a lever out of a block of wood or a normal brick and a piece of floor board about 2 foot long. Put the block/brick in the middle of the wall about 6 inches away from the wall and lay your floor board on it. Put your dabs on the wall and put the board on top of your floor board the put your foot on the floor board and press down on it lifting the board up to meet the ceiling. Get some one to put the "Blocks" under the board and tap them in. When you have the board in the position you want to get a length of timber and tap the board so it fixes to the wall nice and tight long ways and side ways.. Then carry on all across the wall then tap off the fixed boards as you go along the wall. Make sure you put thick enough dabs on the wall so it will allow all the boards to be plumb and level.. You can fill the gap at the bottom with strips of plaster board dabbed on using a small straight edge to keep them level with the main boards and glue your skirting on when it's all dried out. When I have dot and dabbed I tend to use tapered edged boards and double tape them and bring the gaps flush with the boards.. You can sand them flush for decorating.. Good Luck and take some photos to show the lads..(y)
