Hi. I hope someone can help . I bought a double dimmer to replace double switch for 2 lights in my living room. When I switched off the electric unscrewed the double switch, there were three red wires inside, and for each switch there was L1, L2 and L3. For the dimmer there are corresponding 2 lots of L!, L2 and ~with a line through it. The wires were attached as follows:
1. to 1 L1, then across to other L1.
2. To 1 L3.
3. To the other L3.
I fitted the dimmer the same, but with a narrower gauge connecting wire between the L1s (the original wouldn't reach across) and the ~with line corresponding to L3.
One light would dim, but the other one would only go on/off. Is this just coz the connecting wire is narrower gauge?? Or would it be something else??
