I need to get some worktop for an open plan kitchen. One side is open to the lounge , approx 2.2M of counter is double sided. Behind the floor units on the longe side is some panelling which will finish of the back of the units, with the worktop fitted over the panelling -Unfortunately this means the worktop needs to be minimum 650mm but could go up to 700mm wide.
Alternate would be to fit a 50mm wooden edge on the lounge side.

I am looking for laminate worktop - nothing too special - custom made worktop seems to run into hundreds of pounds. Any suggestions welcome.

Double post form tops of that width are easy to get hold of, have a look at Bushboard they do them at 665mm which will give a decent overhang and lengths upto 4.1m. Solid wood tops can also be had at 650mm wide

Hi, I have got a piece left over from my kitchen fit, it is 665 wide by 2150 long, you can have it free but would need to collect, I am in North Wales, probably too far but you never know.

It is Basalt Slate by Formica, cost me a bluddy fortune but is just cluttering up the place

oo basalt slate is it the textured one?

You can get hold of varying widths of worktops, also breakfast bars which come wider yet again.

B&Qs your best bet

B&Qs your best bet

B&Q have a very limited range, go to a decent board supplier and you will have 100s of different colours, textures, thicknesses, edge finishes and sizes, Look for names like Prima, Omega, Polyrey, Odyssey, Axion, Duropal, etc.

Yep thats the one, not available from B&Q etc ;)

Looks like I'll have to fork out for the quality ones - I'll get a worktop specialist fitter to supply & fit.
Thanks all
