Hi all,

I currently have 1x double oven. It is running on a dedicated feed from the consumer unit with a 6mm cable and a 32a breaker. The 6mm cable is hardwired directly into the current double oven.

I am looking to swap to 2x AEG single ovens. Each oven is rated at 3490w with a fuse requirement of 16a.

My question is; can I put my 6mm into a surface mounted 42a cooker switch and then wire both ovens into that switch? Or should I put 2x cooker switches in and run each oven independently?

Thanks mate. After I posted this, it showed me ‘similar threads’. I found my answer there, just ordered what I need from TLC. Got some 2.5mm heat resistant 3 core flex to run out to the ovens.

i see you have ordered what you need, BUT i would have wired with 2 switches (double pole) , as if one oven goes wrong - you can isiolateand removed OR if 1 oven trips the consumer unit - you can isolate (hence double pole) and continue to use the other one while having the faulty one fixed or replaced
Just easier to use a swith , then isolate everything and then pull out the faulty unit and unwire , the faulty unit
This happened to my daughter with one of her ovens , and it was wired into a switch separately - and the NEW oven was faulty - s was the replacement and took a few months to sort out , before she had 2 ovens working
