Hi all,
I have received proposed plans from the council to some changes to the road layout near my house. I live on the end house to a junction. They plan to bring double yellows outside my house and around the corner. Parking is murder as it is with every body fighting for places to park. Trouble is this will make it even worse for me at least. There is a sheet with the proposals for any one objecting, I will be filling it out, but am I just whistling in the wind, and they will go ahead with their proposals never mind how many complain?

According to the highway code parking within 10M of a junction is not allowed. If they yellow lines are enforcing this rule then I think you will be wasting your time

thanks nstreet this is what i thought too, but I thought only being on busy main junctions instead of residential junctions

Apparently Cardiff has more traffic problems than any other city so I guess they are trying to speed things up.

Buy some black bitumen paint and paint over the crossbar on the end of the double yellows. Then they no longer mean anything ;)

One bloke on our street has a van, a 4x4 and a stupidly loud sports car. He has off street parking for 2 vehicles, yet parks them all around the corner outside his house, on the junction. Moron. Nobody likes him.

Lol crafty, yes I heard that if double yellows are broken/damaged they no longer mean anything.

That's illegal.

I like the sound of him.

Like Crafty said...nobody likes him

I suppose while cars and petrol are still cheap nobody will think twice about where to park it before they get one (or three). There are 15 adults in my street and at last count 22 cars owned by them.

Perhaps we should pay more road tax to park on the road overnight.? Or maybe we should only be able to buy a car if we can declare a fixed off-road place to park it!
I know, I'm just ranting now... better stop and go to work.

That`s true and it applies to any length of the line so if it`s broken round the corner it`s still null+void in law and they must be terminated properly .........GET THE BASTARDS

And I wasn't advocating the action of painting yellows lines with black paint, merely suggesting it as a possible rebellious action against the law. I would never dream of such a thing :p

That's ok if you've got somewhere to park off road, I've live in a street of terraced houses and there are no garages or offroad parking, front gardens are too small to turn into driveways.

It is though annoying when people do have drives and don't park on them!

I wonder how many peeps with garage and drive, park on the road 24/7 but declare car as being 'garaged' on their insurance declaration form... Mind you from what I have heard and witnessed, do the insurers really care? ;)
