Guys,
Looking to get some downlighters put in the upstairs hallway, there is an attic for access for cable runs and installing them but the attic obviously has rockwool insulation on it.

Is there any particular downlighter suited for installation where it may be in contact with the insulation above (Fire rated ones..??) or does the insulation have to be moved away completly from the lights..??

Thanks in advance

Your need 150mm air to all sides of each d/light.

You could make up boxes with plasterboard to sit over the d/light and someone even suggested clay plant pots- the sort that have a hole in the base.
It might sound odd, but they would make an ideal hood since the would be resilient to the heat from the d/light.

Thanks mate, quirky idea about the plant pots..!!

May make up plasterboard boxes to cover them, if the boxes are made up then I guess there are no regs on what fittings go up..??..they dont have to be fire rated or anything..?
