Just seemn that IEE regs cost 50 quid (or twice this, on CD)
Therefore resort to this excellect forum for advice :)
Do the IEE regulations permit use of 240v mains downlighters in showers?
If not, does it make a difference if the ceiling is 2.9m high, and therefore impossible to touch when in the shower?

A bathroom is divided up into four 'zones' for wiring purposes.
The area above the shower tray/bath up to a height of 2.25m is classified as zone 1 in which the only electric apparatus permitted is an electric shower of one sort or another which is suitably IP protected.

However due to the fact that your ceiling is at 2.9m it is classified as a zone 2 location in which light units, amongst other equipment is allowed. I would still ensure that any light unit is IP protected. I believe such recessed lights are available for argos at approx £12
