Hope someone can help.
I came back home from work to find that the downstairs lighting wasn't working although all the other electrical equipment downstairs as well as the upstairs lighting does.
I have Cartridge fuses in the fuse box.
What should i do as my sister in law lives with us and she is disabled and very unsteady on her feet as it is.

Probably a lamp has blown and taken out the fuse.
Do you have a spare cartridge fuse to test the circuit with?

You could swap the upstairs & downstairs lighting fuses to prove it is the fuse but you will run the risk of blowing the other fuse if the fault is a more serious one.

Turn the main switch off before removing fuses.
